A special lunch

It is cold and wet here in Adelaide but that did not stop us celebrating a very special birthday today. This lovely couple Kay and Simon are on opposite sides of the world at the moment …….
…..so a good friend Judy decided we should give Simon a special lunch as today is his birthday. Simon is here keeping the home fires burning while Kay is back in the UK looking after their youngest son who is in the middle of chemotherapy. Our hearts are with them all as their brave 23 year old boy deals with this challenge, but today we smiled and ate and Simon being the good British fellow that he is could not resist a good feed of fish and chips….and not one but three pieces of fish!
Larry looks pretty chuffed with his burger…...
and I went for a 'bit of this and a bit of that' …..
Not sure what Simon made out of the spontaneous smooch but it was from you Kay! It was indeed a very special lunch to share - Happy Birthday Simon! (And thanks Judy for organising x)

Whenever we are in the Adelaide Hills we can never resist purchasing an apple and rhubarb pie to bring home …..and then maybe for the weekend a family sized chunky steak and potato pie….. and then Larry's biggest weakness……a vanilla slice!!

We finally had our new LED lights installed recently…….they are unbelievably clear and bright and apparently very cheap to run. Thank you Tim for putting them in for us xx
And I am loving our two new pendants hanging over the kitchen bench too……..
I've done a bit of rearranging at home…..a frequent thing that Larry has put up with over the years!! The computer is out of the spare room and we now have a room devoted to grandchildren only - just in time for our new little one who is arriving in less than 2 weeks….

…and yes….that Beatrix Potter appliqué book might be brewing!!!

  2. love the pictures of your house that you show. I do hope your friends son in England will come through Chemo just fine and it was so nice of you all to do a birthday for her husband - I'm sure he appreciated the smooch!

  3. Lots of prayers coming your family's way -for Kay and Simon's son, the new baby and Mom. That's so nice of you to treat Simon. Love the new room! and that lighting is great. Is one of those spots over your work area? Blessings.
